Background
Envision Energy and AMEA Power have entered into an agreement for the construction of the 500 MW Amunet II wind power project in Egypt at the Africa Energy Forum 2026.
This deal signifies the second cooperation of the firms in building utility-scale wind projects in Egypt. The partnership is a result of the successful completion of AMEA Power’s 500 MW Ras Ghareb Wind Power Plant, which was inaugurated in June 2025.
Also developed by Envision Energy, it emerged as the biggest wind project in Africa and served to bolster the investor confidence in the large-scale renewable energy projects in the region.
Under the new partnership, the total wind capacity installed in Egypt by AMEA Power would touch 1 gigawatt.
Kane Xu, Senior Vice President, Envision Energy, said that the partnership with AMEA Power had now become a strategic collaboration of trust and value creation. He added that Egypt is playing an increasingly important role in the global energy transition, and that Envision will continue applying its technologies and execution capabilities across Egypt and the wider MENA region.
AMEA Power Chairman Hussain Al Nowais said the successful delivery of the Ras Ghareb project demonstrated what strong partners with a shared vision can achieve. He described Amunet II as the next phase of the collaboration and expressed continued confidence in Egypt’s renewable energy sector.
