Background-

Deliveroo has appointed Vasilis Hadjiaslanis as general manager for the Middle East, putting the former Bolt UAE head in charge of its regional business.

Hadjiaslanis will work with DoorDash’s international teams, in the region and globally, to grow the company’s base of consumers, merchants and riders.

He joins from Bolt, where he led the UAE business and grew its mobility platform through a joint venture with Dubai Taxi Company. He has more than a decade of experience building technology and marketplace firms across the Middle East and Africa. Before Bolt, he spent over seven years at Uber in senior leadership, growth and operations roles, and he served as interim general manager for the UAE, Jordan and Lebanon.

DoorDash International CEO Miki Kuusi said the Middle East offers major long-term opportunity. He said Hadjiaslanis brings strong experience in scaling consumer and marketplace businesses.

Hadjiaslanis said he plans to build on the company’s momentum and give users more reasons to choose Deliveroo. He said local knowledge from the Middle East team, paired with DoorDash’s global scale and technology, can speed up growth.

Deliveroo entered the region with its UAE launch in 2015 and added Kuwait in 2019. It has since moved from restaurant delivery into grocery and retail. Its regional business passed 100 million orders in 2025.

The appointment follows DoorDash’s acquisition of Deliveroo, which closed on October 2, 2025.
