Background

Marsh has appointed Christos Adamantiadis as president and global head of placement and market solutions for Marsh Risk, a newly created role that takes effect in November. He will report to Nick Studer, chief executive of Marsh Risk, and succeeds John Donnelly, president of global placement, who is set to retire next year.

Adamantiadis will lead Marsh Risk’s global placement and market solutions strategy, working with regional leaders and insurers worldwide to accelerate product innovation and ensure the broker continues to design, structure and place insurance programs across markets, industries and client segments.

He moves into the global role from chief executive of Marsh Europe, a post he has held since 2023 after being promoted from chief executive of Marsh’s Continental Europe division, following seven years leading the firm’s Middle East and Africa region.

He joined Marsh in 2018 from Oman Insurance Company, where he served as chief executive for three years, having earlier spent 20 years at AIG in regional management roles across Europe, Russia, Turkey and the Middle East.

Tom Geraghty succeeds Adamantiadis as chief executive of Marsh Europe, effective the same date. Based in Dublin, he will report to Flavio Piccolomini, chief executive of Marsh International, and will set the region’s strategic direction while strengthening collaboration across its businesses.

Geraghty previously served as president of Mercer for Europe, a sister business within Marsh McLennan, giving him prior experience within the same leadership structure he now leads.

The moves continue a pattern of internal succession at Marsh’s European leadership, echoing how Adamantiadis was himself promoted from a regional role when the Continental Europe post opened up, with both leaders bringing multi-year familiarity to their new markets.
