Background-
Halma has raised its profit margin guidance for the year, citing strong trading and rapid growth in its photonics business amid a shaky global economy.
The FTSE 100 group, which owns dozens of safety, environmental and healthcare technology companies, now expects an adjusted operating margin between 23.5 and 24 percent for the year to March 2027, up from previous guidance of around 22.7 percent.
The upgrade reflects stronger operational delivery and a more favorable business mix across Halma’s three divisions, supported by recent acquisitions. The company maintained its forecast of low double digit organic revenue growth at constant currency for the year.
Photonics, the technology behind generating and harnessing light used in sensors and medical devices, is driving much of the momentum. The division is expected to grow around 30 percent, contributing roughly five percentage points to overall group growth. Order intake remains ahead of both sales this year and last year, supporting confidence in the outlook.
Halma has completed six acquisitions so far this year, spending a record 515 million pounds on deals spanning cancer treatment technology, hospital data platforms and water quality monitoring.
The largest were French pathology specialist Dreampath Diagnostics for about 238 million pounds and water testing firm Pyxis for around 148 million pounds. The group also completed three disposals worth about 83 million pounds, redirecting capital toward higher growth opportunities.
Currency movements are expected to trim revenue by about 8 million pounds and profit by 2 million pounds versus last year. Halma will publish its half-year results on November 19.
