Key Background
Emirates Flight Catering, the The Emirates Group subsidiary, has unveiled a major expansion of its laundry facilities in the form of a new AED 160 million facility for its Linencraft business. The scheme is situated in Dubai Investment Park and reflects the company’s strategy of scalable, sustainable and technology-facilitated laundry operations that can address the growing needs of the UAE aviation, hospitality and healthcare sectors.
This new facility will add a whopping 150 tons of processing space daily, taking Linencraft’s overall capacity to 430 tons per day across its plants. With the expansion, Linencraft will be in a position to acquire 40 new hospitality customers and provide employment opportunities to around 400 new staff. The plant has state-of-the-art automation systems in place to optimize laundry operations, enhance levels of hygiene, and reduce intensity of manual labor.
One of the features that stand out in the plant is its energy efficiency and clever design. The plant will house two modular bulk laundry systems for high-volume processing (142 tons/day) and a special garment facility for processing 28,000 pieces per day. All these innovations have been made with the aim of not only ensuring operational efficiency but also reducing environmental impacts and ensuring continuity of service during peak hours or system failure.
The construction is being executed by UAE- grounded contractor Asia Prime, known for delivering high- spec artificial systems. This expansion comes at a strategic time, as Dubai’s hospitality assiduity is set to grow with over 10,000 new hostel apartments anticipated by 2027. Linencraft, formerly the largest marketable laundry provider in the UAE, serves over 100 guests and employs roughly 1,300 people.
As announced by Emirates Flight Catering CEO, this expansion underlines the company’s leadership in regional service excellence and innovation in the commercial laundry business. With world-class infrastructure and sustainable operations, the facility is well set to establish new benchmarks for laundry services in the UAE.
