Background

In a new agreement between Parkin Company and charge&go, a subsidiary of Etisalat Services Holding within the e& group, Dubai will deploy 200 ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by 2025. This initiative is launched by the Emirate to promote green mobility and realize the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The 10-year deal will introduce direct current (DC) charging infrastructure into the city with the aim of installing the technology in residential and retail centres as well as leisure destinations. The chargers will reduce charging time to less than 30 minutes, which is a major convenience to the expanding population of more than 40,000 EV users in Dubai.

The project will start with 20 charging stations in October 2025, starting with a boom that will enable the project to achieve 200 public and privately owned charging stations in one year. All the stations shall run a park and charge protocol, which will only allow them to use charging bays when actively charging.

Users will be able to access the service through Parkin’s mobile application, which will provide real-time updates, slot reservations and secure in-app payment options. Officials said the digital-first model is intended to support fair usage while enhancing customer convenience.

Eng. Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, said the partnership reflects the company’s focus on “cleaner, technology-driven mobility solutions.” Muammar Al Rukhaimi, CEO of Etisalat Services Holding, described the rollout as “a major step forward in making sustainable transport more accessible while delivering faster charging and an improved user experience.”

The foundation of the collaboration was laid at GITEX Global 2024, where the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding. Parkin, which manages around 212,000 paid parking spaces across Dubai, will integrate the new charging stations into its existing network.

Authorities said the initiative marks a significant milestone in Dubai’s transition to clean transport, combining cutting-edge technology with the city’s wider vision for a sustainable urban future.
