DP World Appoints Ahmad Yousef Al-Hassan as New GCC CEO to Lead Regional Logistics Operations

Ahmad Yousef Al-Hassan has been appointed as DP World’s new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strengthening the company’s leadership structure in its vital regional market.

Al-Hassan will manage all DP World operations that exist throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the Upper Gulf region activities. He will be responsible for developing the company’s regional strategy while he works to enhance operational efficiency and drive expansion in all port, logistics and supply chain operations.

Al-Hassan brings extensive experience within the organisation, having joined DP World in 2010. He handeled compan’s various international operations through multiple senior financial and leadership positions. He worked formerly at London Gateway, which operates as one of the United Kingdom’s primary deep-sea ports and logistics centres, and he held the Deputy Chief Financial Officer position there. He worked as Chief Financial Officer for DP World, which operated its Asia-Pacific business from its Hong Kong office. These roles provided him with wide-ranging work experience and extensive knowledge of international port management and global trade operations.

He succeeds Abdulla Bin Damithan, who recently took on the role of Chairman at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, which manages all of Dubai’s trade activities together with

its logistics operations and customs procedures.

DP World stated that the appointment demonstrates the company’s commitment to developing leadership capabilities in key markets while assisting the GCC to grow its international trade presence.

The new leadership will mean that DP World will become a more diverse logistics standard, thereby strengthening the development of the region’s trade backbone.
