Background
Global technology company Cisco and UAE-based artificial intelligence firm G42 have announced a partnership to build an advanced AI infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. The project is part of the US–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership, which aims to build strong computing systems, promote data governance, and speed up the country’s AI growth.
Under this plan, Cisco will supply and integrate high-performance AI systems, including computing, networking, storage, analytics, and security tools. G42 will use AMD MI350X GPUs in a regulated technology environment to ensure safe and compliant use of advanced computing systems.
The new infrastructure will support AI operations in key sectors such as energy, healthcare, telecommunications, and defence. Cisco will act as the technology integrator, ensuring all systems follow strict security and governance rules to prevent data misuse or unauthorized access.
This partnership continues earlier joint efforts between the US and UAE, including the 1GW Stargate UAE cluster in Abu Dhabi and the 5GW UAE–US AI technology campus announced earlier this year.
Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins said the partnership reinforces Cisco’s commitment to building a secure and reliable digital future for the UAE. “Together, we are laying the foundation for responsible and impactful innovation,” he stated.
Cisco’s research shows that 92% of UAE organizations plan to adopt AI tools, but only 25% currently have the needed GPU capacity. The collaboration aims to fill this gap and boost the country’s AI readiness.
Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, stated that the project demonstrates the growing trust and technological cooperation between the US and the UAE. Both companies are working with US government agencies to get the required approvals before starting the project.
